This article announces audit context support for Amazon EMR and AWS Glue with AWS Lake Formation credential vending and Data Catalog APIs.
- Comprehensive audit logging enabled by default for Lake Formation and Glue Data Catalog API calls
- Audit information visible in AWS CloudTrail logs for enhanced security monitoring
- Automatically records platform type and identifiers (Cluster ID, Step ID, Job Run ID, Virtual Cluster ID)
- Enables tracking of API calls from individual Spark jobs and compliance reporting
- Supports EMR for Apache Spark fine-grained access control (FGAC) and full table access jobs
- Helps maintain compliance with DMA and data protection regulations
- Available in all AWS Regions supporting EMR, Glue, and Lake Formation (EMR 7.12+, Glue 5.1+)
