This article announces automatic replication support for Apache Iceberg tables in Amazon S3 Tables across AWS Regions and accounts.

  • Replicates complete table structure, snapshots, and metadata across regions and accounts
  • Creates read-only replica tables automatically in destination buckets
  • Continuously monitors and syncs new updates to keep replicas current
  • Replicas support independent snapshot retention policies and encryption keys
  • Query replicas using Athena, Redshift, Spark, DuckDB, or SageMaker Unified Studio
  • Available in all AWS Regions where S3 Tables are supported

S3 Tables replication enables global analytics workloads by reducing query latency and improving data accessibility through automatic cross-region and cross-account table replication.
