This article announces the launch of OI2 instances for Amazon OpenSearch Service, a new addition to the OpenSearch Optimized Instance family.
- OI2 instances deliver up to 9% higher indexing throughput than OR2 instances
- Up to 33% higher throughput compared to I8g instances in benchmarks
- Uses same architecture as OR2 with Amazon S3 for high durability
- Provisioned with compute, 3rd gen AWS Nitro SSDs, and remote S3-based storage
- Available in sizes large through 24xlarge with up to 22.5 TB storage
- Offers pay-as-you-go and reserved instance pricing options
- Now available across 12 global regions including US, Canada, Asia Pacific, Europe
OI2 instances provide improved price-performance for indexing-heavy OpenSearch workloads with simplified hourly billing.
