Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports cross-Region replicas with additional storage volumes

This article announces that Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports cross-Region replicas with additional storage volumes, enabling enhanced disaster recovery and storage flexibility for business-critical applications.

  • Customers can add up to three additional storage volumes, each up to 64 TiB, for total 256 TiB storage
  • Cross-Region replicas automatically replicate the same storage layout from primary instance
  • Storage changes can be applied to both primary and replica instances without downtime
  • Replicas can be promoted to standalone databases or used for switchover operations
  • Requires Oracle Database Enterprise Edition license; Active Data Guard license for read-only replicas
  • Available in all AWS Regions including GovCloud (US)

This enhancement provides RDS for Oracle customers with greater flexibility for disaster recovery and storage management across regions.
