AWS News Blog

This article announces the general availability of AWS Interconnect, a managed connectivity service with two capabilities for connecting AWS to other environments.

  • AWS Interconnect – multicloud enables private Layer 3 connections between AWS and other cloud providers like Google Cloud
  • AWS Interconnect – last mile simplifies connectivity from on-premises locations to AWS through network providers
  • Both services use MACsec encryption, built-in resiliency across multiple facilities, and CloudWatch monitoring
  • Multicloud connections provisioned in minutes through AWS Console with automatic route propagation
  • Last-mile supports 1-100 Gbps bandwidth with 99.99% availability SLA and four redundant connections
  • Multicloud available in five region pairs with Google Cloud; Azure support coming later 2026
  • Last-mile launching in US East with Lumen; AT&T and Megaport partnerships in progress
  • Pricing based on flat hourly rate for requested capacity, varies by region pair

AWS Interconnect simplifies multicloud and hybrid connectivity by removing manual configuration complexity and providing managed, resilient private connections.
