Configure Schedule Adherence Thresholds in Amazon Connect to Account for Operational Variances

Contact Center Blog

This article explains configurable adherence thresholds in Amazon Connect, a feature that allows contact centers to account for expected operational variances when measuring agent schedule adherence.

  • Adherence thresholds define accepted tolerance windows (1-10 minutes) for schedule deviations
  • Four configurable options: Start Early, Start Late, End Early, End Late for each activity
  • Four configuration levels with precedence hierarchy: shift-level, activity-specific, all-activities, and shift activity defaults
  • Boundary threshold intervals handle transitions between consecutive activities seamlessly
  • Real-time dashboards now show three states: Adherent (green), Using thresholds (yellow), Non-adherent (red)
  • Historical metrics updated to account for thresholds in adherence percentage calculations
  • Published calendar view displays adherence with red (exceeds threshold) and yellow (within threshold) indicators
  • Reduces alert fatigue for supervisors by distinguishing meaningful deviations from routine variances

Configurable adherence thresholds improve adherence data accuracy, help supervisors prioritize interventions, and provide better inputs for forecasting and capacity planning.
