- Amazon Q Developer IDE plugins reach end-of-support April 30, 2027
- New Q Developer signups blocked starting May 15, 2026
- Opus 4.6 model removed May 29, 2026; latest models exclusive to Kiro
- Kiro is spec-driven IDE/CLI with automated hooks and custom subagents
- Q Developer in AWS Console and first-party AWS experiences unaffected
- Existing customers retain IDE plugin access through transition period
- Critical bugfixes continue during 12-month transition window
AWS is sunsetting Q Developer IDE plugins in favor of Kiro, a purpose-built agentic development environment offering spec-driven development capabilities.
