AWS IoT Core for Device Location adds Confidence Level Configuration and Measurement Type support
News
This article announces enhancements to AWS IoT Core for Device Location, providing developers with greater control over location resolution and improved metadata visibility.
- Confidence level configuration now available (50%-99%) for Cell ID, Wi-Fi, and Cell+Wi-Fi solvers
- Higher confidence levels increase certainty but produce larger accuracy radius
- Lower confidence levels yield smaller radius with reduced certainty
- New measurement type field shows location determination method (GNSS, Wi-Fi, or BLE)
- Helps assess data quality and debug positioning issues
- HTTP-based location resolution currently supported
- Available across all AWS IoT Core Device Location supported regions
These updates enable developers to balance accuracy and confidence requirements while gaining better visibility into location data quality and determination methods.
