Bitnami image removal from ECR Public

Containers Blog

This article announces the removal of Bitnami container images from Amazon ECR Public Gallery on June 10th, 2026, and provides guidance for affected users.

  • Bitnami images will no longer be available on ECR Public after June 10th, 2026
  • Affected workloads reference `public.ecr.aws/bitnami/` in ECS, EKS, Helm charts, Dockerfiles, or CI/CD pipelines
  • Running containers continue operating until they require a fresh image pull (restart, scaling, redeployment)
  • Mirror critical Bitnami images to private ECR repositories before the removal date
  • Update all deployment configurations to reference private registry URIs instead of public ones
  • Validate changes in non-production environments before June 10th deadline
  • Adopt best practices: mirror production images, use pull-through caching, reference images by SHA256 digest
  • Alternative image sources available: Docker Official, Chainguard, and Ubuntu images on ECR Public

Organizations must identify affected workloads immediately and complete migration to private registries before June 10th, 2026 to prevent service disruption.
