AWS IoT Core adds new logs to troubleshoot connectivity and authentication

This article announces two new Amazon CloudWatch Log event types for AWS IoT Core to help troubleshoot device connectivity and authentication issues.

  • Ping log event type tracks MQTT Keep-alive messages and identifies connection failures
  • Connection.AuthNError log event type records rejected authentication attempts with detailed error codes
  • Enables faster resolution of credential and certificate issues across IoT fleets
  • Available in all AWS Regions where AWS IoT Core is available
  • Configure through AWS IoT Core event-level logging settings with CloudWatch log group destination

These new logging capabilities improve troubleshooting efficiency for IoT device connectivity and authentication problems.
