Sony Marketing Inc. built Cloud-based live video production for sports events with AWS Elemental MediaConnect Router

Media Blog

Sony Marketing Inc. built a cloud-based live video production system using AWS Elemental MediaConnect Router to handle 90+ video sources for large-scale sports events, replacing physical infrastructure constraints.

  • Deployed MediaConnect Router as cloud-based routing layer upstream of M2L-X cloud switchers to overcome 32-input pre-selector limitation
  • All video sources ingest into AWS Elemental MediaConnect; operators dynamically route sources to appropriate switcher inputs
  • Integrated with Sony's in-house Live Link Control (L2C) application via API for familiar operator workflows
  • Reduced physical footprint, transportation costs, and on-site setup time while maintaining broadcast quality
  • Enabled multi-program production and improved system reliability through flexible routing configurations

This hybrid cloud-on-premises architecture demonstrates how cloud-based video routing transforms infrastructure constraints into scalable software solutions for large-scale live broadcast production.
