AWS Batch now offers customer-ordered instance allocation strategies for improved control over instance type prioritization in compute environments.

  • BFPO (Best Fit Progressive Ordered) for on-demand compute environments
  • SCOP (Spot Capacity Optimized Prioritized) for Amazon EC2 Spot compute environments
  • Manually define instance type ordering based on workload-specific performance characteristics
  • Configure via AWS Batch API (CreateComputeEnvironment or UpdateComputeEnvironment) or Management Console
  • Available in all AWS Regions where AWS Batch is supported

These allocation strategies enable workload-optimized instance selection for better performance and cost efficiency.
