Simplify AWS Outposts lifecycle management with new self-service capabilities

Compute Blog

AWS Outposts introduces self-service lifecycle management capabilities that eliminate the need to coordinate with AWS teams for configuration, quoting, and end-of-term decisions.

  • New configuration and quoting tool generates real-time cost estimates for different payment options and term lengths
  • Subscription details including term dates, billing, and payment terms now visible in AWS Outposts console and via AWS CLI/API
  • Self-service renewal workflows allow customers to extend Outposts within 3 months of term end with flexible term and payment options
  • Self-service decommissioning workflows guide customers through resource removal and Outpost shutdown at any point during term
  • Quotes valid for 30 days; capacity additions require minimum 3 compute hosts or storage tier increase
  • Enterprise Support or Unified Operations plan required to place orders

These capabilities reduce coordination overhead and give customers direct control over their Outposts from evaluation through end-of-term management.
