AWS HealthOmics now supports ephemeral storage for private workflows
News
AWS HealthOmics adds ephemeral storage for private workflows, giving bioinformatics workloads dedicated scratch space that delivers more consistent run performance and lower costs.
- Each workflow task receives a dedicated local volume mounted at /tmp for temporary data storage
- Genomic sequence alignment, BAM sorting, and variant calling workloads experience faster run times
- Default 16 GiB ephemeral storage per task at no additional charge; scalable up to 3,072 GiB
- Scratch I/O isolated from shared run storage, improving overall performance
- All ephemeral storage volumes are encrypted and automatically deleted when tasks terminate
- Available in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London), Israel (Tel Aviv), and Asia Pacific (Singapore, Seoul)
Ephemeral storage enables faster, more cost-effective bioinformatics workflows by providing isolated temporary storage for scratch data processing.
