AWS Parallel Computing Service supports in-place Slurm major version upgrades

AWS Parallel Computing Service (PCS) now supports managed in-place Slurm version upgrades for existing clusters with no disruption to running jobs.
- Upgrade clusters up to three Slurm major versions ahead using AWS Management Console, CLI, or UpdateCluster API
- PCS handles upgrade of controller, accounting database, and REST API components
- Running jobs continue uninterrupted; queued jobs resume after upgrade completes
- Accounting data is preserved during the upgrade process
- Compute nodes can be updated to new Slurm version at your convenience
- Available in all AWS Regions where PCS is available
This feature simplifies Slurm version management for HPC workloads on AWS, enabling seamless cluster upgrades without operational disruption.
