This article announces support for R8g.24xlarge and R8g.48xlarge instances in Amazon DocumentDB with MongoDB compatibility.

  • R8g instances powered by AWS Graviton4 processors with DDR5 memory
  • R8g.24xlarge offers 96 vCPUs and 768 GiB memory
  • R8g.48xlarge offers 192 vCPUs and 1,536 GiB memory
  • Enables high-concurrency transactional applications and large-scale document processing
  • Available for DocumentDB 5.0+ on Standard and IO-Optimized configurations
  • Deployable via AWS Management Console, CLI, and SDK

These new instance types allow customers to run more demanding workloads with improved performance and memory capacity.
