Updates to AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate (MLA-C02)

AWS is updating the AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate exam to reflect the evolving ML engineer role, now encompassing generative AI, agentic AI, and foundation models.
- Beta registration opens September 1, 2026 in English; MLA-C01 last available September 28, 2026
- Updated exam (MLA-C02) covers generative AI implementation, fine-tuning foundation models, and RAG architectures
- Expanded coverage of Amazon Bedrock and responsible AI practices alongside traditional ML
- Targets ML engineers, LLMOps engineers, data engineers, and software developers
- Requires 1+ year experience with SageMaker AI, Bedrock, and related AWS services
- Beta exam: 170 minutes, 85 questions, $75 USD, English only via Pearson VUE
- Standard version available in all languages in early 2027
The updated certification validates current industry skills across both traditional ML and generative AI workloads on AWS.
