Amazon RDS now allows up to four storage modifications per database instance within a rolling 24-hour window, enabling faster scaling and performance adjustments.
- Increase storage size, change storage type, and adjust performance without waiting for cool-off periods
- Start new modifications immediately after storage optimization completes
- Modifications occur without downtime, maintaining minimal performance impact
- Automatically enabled on PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, Db2, Oracle, and SQL Server instances
- Available across all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US)
This enhancement improves operational agility for handling sudden data growth and unexpected workload spikes.
