Amazon RDS for SQL Server increases the maximum size and provisioned performance of General Purpose (gp3) volumes

Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports significantly higher volume-level limits for General Purpose (gp3) storage, enabling larger and more performant databases.
- gp3 volumes scale up to 64 TiB (4X previous limit) with 80,000 IOPS (5X increase) and 2,000 MiB/s throughput (2X increase)
- Supports demanding workloads like high-throughput OLTP systems and large-scale analytics on single volumes
- Add up to three additional gp3 or io2 volumes per instance for total capacity up to 256 TiB
- No pricing changes; customers pay only for provisioned storage, IOPS, and throughput beyond baseline
These enhancements enable customers to run larger SQL Server databases with improved performance for mission-critical workloads while maintaining simplified storage management.
