Amazon Redshift adds rg.large and rg.12xlarge instance sizes

This article announces the general availability of two new Amazon Redshift RG instance sizes: rg.large and rg.12xlarge, providing enhanced performance and cost efficiency.

  • Graviton-powered instances deliver up to 2.4x faster query performance than RA3 instances
  • 30% lower price per vCPU compared to previous-generation RA3 instances
  • Available on current track (P202) only; trailing track (P201) continues with rg.xlarge and rg.4xlarge
  • Existing RA3 clusters can migrate using Snapshot and Restore, Elastic Resize, or Classic Resize
  • Flexible pricing: On-Demand, 1-year and 3-year Reserved Instances with No Upfront payment
  • Available across 27+ AWS regions globally

The new instance sizes provide greater flexibility for right-sizing Redshift clusters while delivering superior performance and cost benefits.
