Introducing the LBC Ingress-to-Gateway API migration toolkit
Networking & Content Delivery Blog
This article introduces the LBC Ingress-to-Gateway API migration toolkit, which automates the process of migrating AWS Load Balancer Controller Ingress resources to the Kubernetes Gateway API standard.
- lbc-migrate CLI tool translates LBC Ingress resources to Gateway API YAML manifests automatically
- Migration Console provides a read-only web UI for reviewing dry-run plans before production deployment
- Six-step migration process: translate, dry-run preview, apply, verify, shift traffic, and cleanup
- Dry-run mode validates AWS resources without provisioning ALBs, enabling safe preview
- Supports TLS termination, URI rewriting, and other Ingress annotations with partial or full support
- New Gateway ALBs run alongside existing Ingress ALBs for safe cutover on your schedule
- Gateway API is the Kubernetes-recommended successor to the frozen Ingress API
The toolkit enables safe, validated migration to Gateway API with minimal manual intervention and rollback capability at each step.
