Introducing Amazon ECS Gateway: A fully-managed ingress solution for ECS services

AWS News Blog

This article announces Amazon ECS Gateway, a fully-managed ingress solution that simplifies networking for containerized workloads on Amazon ECS.

  • Platform teams create and configure gateways with organizational networking standards; application teams opt services in with a gateway connector parameter
  • Supports host-based routing with ALBs, enabling up to 25 services to share a single ALB for cost optimization
  • ECS automatically provisions per-service resources including ACM certificates, unique DNS hostnames, listener rules, and security groups
  • Handles lifecycle management automatically: provisions ALBs on demand, scales capacity, and removes resources when services disconnect
  • Supports many-to-many relationships between gateways and clusters for flexible infrastructure sharing across environments
  • Available in all commercial AWS Regions at no additional charge; pay only for underlying infrastructure provisioned

ECS Gateway eliminates per-service networking overhead, reduces configuration drift, and accelerates deployment velocity for platform and application teams.
