Amazon Redshift Data API announces long polling, session management, and flexible batch execution

News

Amazon Redshift Data API announces new capabilities that reduce API calls, provide session visibility, and enable flexible batch execution with independent transactions.

  • Long polling delays synchronous responses until SQL statements finish, reducing repeated polling calls
  • ListSessions allows enumeration and filtering of active sessions by status, compute target, or database
  • AUTO_COMMIT mode in BatchExecuteStatement executes each statement independently without rolling back on failure
  • SqlParameter arrays enable parameter reuse across all statements in a batch
  • Generally available for Redshift Provisioned and Serverless in all AWS commercial and GovCloud regions

These enhancements streamline query execution and session management for ETL pipelines and administrative scripts.
