AWS HealthLake identifies and links duplicate patient, provider, and organization records (Preview)

AWS HealthLake now supports resource matching, which automatically identifies and links duplicate records in a datastore to improve healthcare data quality.

• Matches across seven FHIR resource types: Patient, Practitioner, Organization, Location, Device, RelatedPerson, and PractitionerRole
• Uses high-confidence healthcare identifiers like Social Security, medical record, and national provider numbers
• Requires no configuration, matching rules, or third-party master data management tools
• Automatically evaluates records on creation or update and connects matches via FHIR Linkage resources
• Preserves full provenance by never modifying or deleting original records
• Available in gated preview across eight AWS regions including US East, US West, Europe, and Asia Pacific

Resource matching eliminates duplicate records that cause redundant tests, missed diagnoses, billing errors, and broken analytics in healthcare organizations.
