Amazon Location Service now supports POI category and density filtering in map styles

Amazon Location Service adds server-side Point of Interest (POI) filtering capabilities to its maps, allowing developers to control which POI categories and density levels appear.

• New poi-categories parameter accepts allowlist of categories like Food & Drink, Transit, and Accommodations
• New poi-density parameter controls how many POIs render on the map
• Server-side filtering eliminates need for client-side workarounds tied to internal style layer identifiers
• Works seamlessly across web, mobile, and headless server-side renderers without additional code
• Enables use cases like property listings showing only accommodations or logistics apps displaying transit and fuel
• Available in 14 AWS Regions including US, Asia Pacific, Canada, Europe, South America, and GovCloud

Developers can now tailor map displays to specific use cases through the GetStyleDescriptor API with improved POI filtering controls.
