Amazon EKS now supports multiple external OIDC identity providers per cluster

News

Amazon EKS now supports multiple external OIDC identity providers per cluster, allowing organizations to authenticate different user populations independently.

  • Associate up to 10 OIDC identity providers with a single EKS cluster
  • Support different providers for employees, contractors, and CI/CD systems
  • Each provider configured and managed independently with separate identity mapping
  • Existing IAM authentication continues to work alongside configured providers
  • Add providers using AWS Management Console or AssociateIdentityProviderConfig API
  • Available at no additional cost in all AWS Regions

Organizations can now authenticate diverse user populations through their respective identity providers without requiring consolidation or intermediary brokers.
