Amazon EMR on EKS now supports IPv6 Amazon EKS clusters

This article announces that Amazon EMR on EKS now supports running workloads on IPv6 Amazon EKS clusters, providing access to a vastly larger address space for analytics workloads.

  • Scale large Spark and Flink workloads using expanded IPv6 address space without IPv4 conservation workarounds
  • Run high-executor jobs like 500-executor Spark jobs concurrently without address limit planning
  • Submit workloads using StartJobRun, Spark Connect Interactive Endpoints, and Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio
  • Flink, Livy, and Spark Operators are supported with no additional configuration
  • Available at no additional cost starting with EMR releases emr-7.14.0 and emr-spark-8.0.0
  • Available in all AWS Regions where Amazon EMR on EKS and IPv6 EKS clusters are available
