AWS Elastic Beanstalk now supports Active Directory domain join for Windows Server environments
News
AWS Elastic Beanstalk now automatically joins Windows Server instances to Active Directory domains managed by AWS Directory Service without requiring custom scripts.
- Instances join the domain at boot before application deployment with simple configuration
- Auto-scaled instances automatically join the domain without manual intervention
- Enables Windows-integrated authentication, group policy, and domain resource access
- Instances receive predictable computer names derived from instance IDs
- Resilient design ensures deployment completes even if domain join fails
- Available on Windows Server platform versions from August 18, 2026 onward in all AWS Commercial and GovCloud regions
This eliminates the need for custom domain join scripts, simplifying Windows workload deployment on Elastic Beanstalk.
