Introducing a standalone SigV4 signer for the AWS SDK for .NET

Developer Tools Blog

This article introduces a standalone SigV4 signer for the AWS SDK for .NET, enabling developers to sign AWS requests and create presigned URLs for use cases without generated service clients.

  • Sign HTTP requests with AWS Signature Version 4 authentication for API Gateway, Lambda function URLs, and raw HTTP services
  • Create presigned URLs that carry authentication in the query string with configurable expiry up to 7 days
  • Use SigV4SigningHandler as a DelegatingHandler to automatically sign every HttpClient request
  • Available in AWSSDK.Core version 4.0.101.0 or later with no additional setup required
  • Override service or region per request and control payload signing behavior for large uploads

The standalone signer complements generated service clients for IAM-authorized endpoints and custom HTTP scenarios.
