Amazon CloudWatch now supports warm-up periods for alarms

News

Amazon CloudWatch now supports warm-up periods for metric and log alarms, delaying alarm evaluation after creation to reduce noise from missing data during resource startup.

  • Configure warm-up periods from 1 to 2,880 minutes when creating or updating alarms
  • Prevents unnecessary notifications while new resources or services are starting up
  • Alarms can end warm-up early when enough metric data fills the evaluation window
  • Option to require alarms to wait the full configured duration before evaluating
  • Available in all AWS Regions at no additional charge

Warm-up periods help teams avoid false alarms and unnecessary on-call notifications during CI/CD deployments and service startups.
