News
Amazon EC2 now enables AMI owners to define which instance types are compatible with their AMIs, reducing failed launches from incompatible pairings.
- Specify supported instance types, unsupported types, or both on AMIs
- Automatically block launch attempts on non-permitted instance types
- Prevent failed launches due to incompatible instance-AMI combinations
- Available in all AWS Regions at no additional cost
- Existing workflows unaffected until restrictions are explicitly applied
This feature provides AMI owners with built-in compatibility controls to ensure successful instance launches.
