AWS Lambda now supports 90-minute function timeout on Lambda Managed Instances

AWS Lambda now supports 90-minute function timeouts for asynchronous and event source mapping invocations on Lambda Managed Instances, a 6x increase from the previous 15-minute limit.

  • Enables data processing, media transcoding, financial calculations, and AI inference workloads without re-architecting applications
  • Applies to asynchronous and ESM invocations; synchronous invocations retain 15-minute maximum timeout
  • Works with Lambda durable functions for checkpoint-and-replay resilience, supporting multi-step executions up to 1 year
  • Configurable via AWS Console, CLI, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, and Agent Toolkit
  • Available in all AWS Regions where Lambda Managed Instances is supported

This enhancement eliminates architectural workarounds for long-running serverless workloads while maintaining Lambda's infrastructure-free management model.
