Deploy open source Regional availability tools in your VPC
Architecture Blog
This article introduces two open source solutions for deploying AWS Regional availability tools within your VPC: Capability Insights for AWS and Workload Analysis.
- Capability Insights deploys a searchable dashboard showing service, API, and CloudFormation resource availability across AWS Regions with automatic 24-hour refreshes
- Dashboard, API, and data run entirely in your account with only scheduled reads to AWS-published datasets leaving your network
- Workload Analysis filters 200+ services to the 20-30 your account actually uses by scanning CloudTrail logs and CloudFormation stacks
- Deploy using npm with automated setup or manual CloudFormation deployment for native AWS tooling
- Access dashboard through VPC connectivity options including VPN, Client VPN, or EC2 SOCKS proxy
- Personalized results show service availability gaps for Regional expansion planning with per-stack resource attribution
- Solutions integrate with existing VPC infrastructure and security controls
These tools enable organizations to own Regional availability data inside their network, filtered to their workload, and refreshed on their schedule for multi-Region architecture planning.
