Amazon ElastiCache expands data tiering to R8gd and R7gd nodes in Europe (Spain) and Asia Pacific (Hyderabad)
Regional Expansion
Amazon ElastiCache for Valkey data tiering is now available on Graviton4-based R8gd nodes in Europe (Spain) and Graviton3-based R7gd nodes in Europe (Spain) and Asia Pacific (Hyderabad).
- Data tiering uses SSDs alongside memory to scale Valkey clusters to hundreds of terabytes
- R8gd nodes deliver up to 47% higher throughput and 43% lower P99 latency than Graviton3
- R7gd nodes offer up to 28% more throughput and 21% better P99 latency than Graviton2
- Ideal for workloads accessing up to 20% of dataset with tolerance for SSD read latency
- Supported on Valkey 7.2 and later via AWS Console, CLI, or SDKs
Data tiering enables cost-effective scaling of Valkey clusters with automatic memory-to-SSD management for least recently used items.
