AWS Compute Optimizer supports rightsizing recommendations for Amazon RDS MySQL and RDS PostgreSQL
News
AWS Compute Optimizer now provides recommendations for Amazon RDS MySQL and RDS PostgreSQL DB instances and storage. It helps identify idle databases and choose optimal DB instance class and provisioned IOPS settings, reducing costs for over-provisioned workloads and increasing performance for under-provisioned workloads.
Specifically, the article covers:
- Compute Optimizer automatically discovers and analyzes RDS MySQL and PostgreSQL instances using CloudWatch metrics
- If RDS Performance Insights is enabled, Compute Optimizer analyzes additional metrics like DBLoad
- It provides idle and rightsizing recommendations to optimize RDS DB instances
- The new feature is available in all AWS regions where Compute Optimizer is available, except AWS GovCloud (US) and China regions
