Load Balancer Capacity Unit Reservation for Application and Network Load Balancers
News
AWS has introduced Load Balancer Capacity Unit (LCU) Reservation for Application Load Balancers (ALB) and Network Load Balancers (NLB), enabling users to proactively reserve minimum load balancer capacity.
- Allows customers to guarantee minimum load balancer capacity in advance
- Ideal for high-demand events like ticket sales, product launches, and content releases
- Customers pay only for reserved LCUs and additional usage
- Configurable through ELB console or API
- Available for ALB in all commercial AWS regions and NLB in select regions
This feature helps improve scale and availability during traffic surges by providing predictable load balancer performance.
