AWS has announced future-dated Amazon EC2 On-Demand Capacity Reservations, allowing customers to plan and schedule capacity reservations up to 120 days in advance.
- Customers can now reserve EC2 capacity for critical future events like product launches or sales events
- No upfront charges for scheduling a capacity reservation
- Reservations can be created up to 120 days in advance
- Minimum request is 100 vCPUs for specific instance types
- Recommended minimum commitment is 14 days
- Billing is similar to regular On-Demand Capacity Reservations
This feature helps customers ensure they have the necessary computing resources for critical workloads by allowing advance planning and capacity reservation.
