Amazon CloudFront has introduced origin modification capabilities within CloudFront Functions, allowing developers to dynamically change origin servers for each request.
- Enables custom routing policies for traffic forwarding
- Can determine viewer geographic location and route to closest AWS Region
- Replaces previous need for AWS Lambda@Edge with better performance and lower costs
- Supports updating origin capabilities like custom headers, timeouts, and Origin Shield
- Available at no additional charge
This feature provides more flexibility in managing content delivery by allowing developers to implement intelligent, dynamic origin selection strategies directly within CloudFront Functions.
