Amazon SQS increases in-flight limit for FIFO queues from 20K to 120K

Amazon SQS has increased the in-flight message limit for FIFO queues from 20,000 to 120,000 messages, expanding message processing capabilities.

  • In-flight messages are messages received but not yet deleted
  • Receivers can now process up to 120K messages concurrently
  • Helps organizations with high-throughput messaging needs
  • Available across commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions
  • Allows scaling of message receivers without previous throughput constraints

This update enables more efficient and scalable message processing for applications using SQS FIFO queues.
