News
AWS has launched Media Quality-Aware Resiliency (MQAR), a new feature for live streaming that provides dynamic, cross-region origin selection and failover based on video quality.
- Automatically switches between regions in seconds when video quality degrades
- Uses AWS Elemental MediaLive to analyze video input and generate a quality score
- CloudFront continuously selects the MediaPackage origin with the highest quality score
- Can detect issues like black frames, frozen frames, or repeated frames
- No additional cost beyond standard CloudFront and Media Services pricing
- CloudWatch alerts available for quality indicators
MQAR is designed to ensure high-quality streaming for live events and 24/7 programming channels, providing enhanced resiliency and viewer experience.
