AWS Lambda supports application performance monitoring (APM) via CloudWatch Application Signals

News

AWS Lambda now supports Amazon CloudWatch Application Signals, a new application performance monitoring (APM) solution that helps developers and operators monitor serverless application performance.

  • Provides pre-built dashboards for critical metrics like throughput, availability, latency, and errors
  • Offers correlated traces and interactions between Lambda functions and dependencies
  • Requires no manual instrumentation or code changes
  • Enables creation of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to track performance KPIs
  • Uses enhanced AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT) libraries for improved performance
  • Can be enabled with a single click in the Lambda console

The feature is available in all commercial AWS Regions where Lambda and CloudWatch Application Signals are supported, helping reduce mean time to recovery and operational costs.
