Track performance of serverless applications built using AWS Lambda with Application Signals

AWS News Blog

AWS has announced the general availability of CloudWatch Application Signals for AWS Lambda, a new application performance monitoring (APM) solution for serverless applications.

  • Automatically collects application golden metrics like request volume, latency, faults, and errors
  • Eliminates manual setup and complex performance monitoring for Lambda functions
  • Uses enhanced AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT) libraries for auto-instrumentation
  • Provides pre-built dashboards and service topology visualization
  • Currently supports Python and Node.js managed runtimes
  • Allows defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for critical operations

The solution aims to simplify serverless application monitoring by reducing operational complexity and providing quick troubleshooting insights without requiring manual code changes.
