AWS Application Discovery Service now supports data from commercially available discovery tools

News

AWS has expanded the capabilities of AWS Application Discovery Service (ADS) by adding support for importing data from third-party datacenter discovery tools, specifically Dell Technology's RVTools.

  • Users can now directly import VMware data exports without file manipulation
  • ADS provides a system of record for configuration, performance, tags, network connections, and application grouping
  • Customers can start migration using existing data and later deploy Discovery Agents or Agentless Collectors
  • Imported data will automatically merge into a unified datacenter view
  • The new capability is available in all AWS Regions where ADS is supported

This update simplifies the migration process by allowing easier integration of existing datacenter discovery data into AWS's migration tools.
