Amazon S3 now supports enforcement of conditional write operations for S3 general purpose buckets
News
Amazon S3 now supports enforcement of conditional write operations for S3 general purpose buckets using bucket policies.
- Allows mandate of object existence checks before creating or updating objects
- Prevents unintentional data overwrites in high-concurrency, multi-writer scenarios
- Uses s3:if-none-match or s3:if-match condition keys in bucket policies
- Rejects write attempts without required conditional headers
- Available at no additional charge across all AWS Regions
This feature helps simplify distributed applications by providing more control over object writes and preventing potential data conflicts.
