AWS has announced the preview of Amazon Aurora DSQL, a new serverless, distributed SQL database with groundbreaking features:
- Provides virtually unlimited horizontal scaling with independent scaling of reads, writes, compute, and storage
- Offers 99.99% single-Region and 99.999% multi-Region availability with no single point of failure
- Automatically scales to meet workload demands without database sharding or instance upgrades
- PostgreSQL compatible with strong consistency and durability across Regional endpoints
- Currently available in preview in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), and US West (Oregon) regions
Aurora DSQL aims to simplify database management by providing effortless scaling, high availability, and zero infrastructure overhead for applications.
