AWS has made the Higher Education Community Vendor Assessment Toolkit (HECVAT) available on AWS Artifact, helping higher education institutions evaluate vendor security and compliance.
- HECVAT is a third-party questionnaire framework created by EDUCAUSE, Internet2, and REN-ISAC
- Two versions are available: Lite (70+ questions) and Full (250+ questions)
- Covers compliance areas like FERPA, ADA, and PCI DSS
- Addresses security aspects such as systems management, networking, encryption, and backups
- Accessible through AWS Artifact for customers with an AWS account
The toolkit provides a consistent framework for assessing vendor security posture and compliance in higher education technology evaluations.
