How AWS Network Firewall session state replication maximizes high availability for your application traffic

Security Blog

AWS Network Firewall has introduced a new session state replication feature that maximizes high availability for application traffic during backend host operations.

  • Automatically replicates connection states between backend firewall hosts
  • Reduces interruptions when firewall hosts are replaced or updated
  • Supports both IPv4 and IPv6 connection states
  • Enabled by default for all Network Firewall users
  • No additional configuration or cost required

The feature allows long-lived network flows to continue without interruption by maintaining connection state across multiple backend hosts, improving overall network reliability and performance.
