Amazon ECS now enables you to update services from short to long ARNs
News
Amazon ECS now allows users to update existing services from short to long Amazon Resource Names (ARNs) without recreating the service.
- Previously, services with short ARNs required deletion and recreation to be tagged
- Now users can migrate services to long ARNs with two simple steps:
- Opt-in to long ARN format for tasks and services
- Use TagResource API to tag the service
- Benefits include:
- Better cost allocation
- Improved resource visibility
- More granular IAM access policies
- Available in all AWS regions via Console, CLI, and API
This update simplifies service management and provides more detailed resource tracking for ECS users.
