Amazon EC2 Fleet has added support for Block Device Mapping overrides, allowing customers more flexibility when launching fleet instances.

  • Customers can now customize Block Device Mapping without creating new Launch Templates
  • Enables overriding Block Device Mapping parameters for specific instance types
  • Supports adding extra EBS or instance store volumes
  • Can update Block Device Mapping from the original Amazon Machine Image configuration
  • Available in all commercial AWS regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

This feature simplifies fleet instance configuration by providing more granular control over device mappings without extensive template management.
