The PGA TOUR has implemented an innovative generative AI system for automated AI commentary using AWS technologies, focusing on robust observability and deployment strategies for their TOURCAST application.
- Deployed AI commentary for every shot across tournament coverage
- Used Amazon CloudWatch for comprehensive system monitoring
- Implemented a two-level metrics approach:
- Component-level metrics tracking tokens, throughput, and cost
- User-level metrics evaluating content quality and acceptance
- Utilized "LLM-as-a-Judge" technique to evaluate AI-generated commentary
- Created a gold standard dataset for continuous system validation
The system allows PGA TOUR to generate AI commentary for over 10,000 shots daily, enhancing fan experience while maintaining high quality and reliability through advanced monitoring techniques.
